Overview

Cybeats delivers an integrated security platform designed to secure and protect high-value connected devices. Cybeats’ unique approach eliminates device downtime due to cyber-attacks and allows manufacturers to develop and maintain secure and protected devices in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

Technology Stack

Cybeats places a micro agent on each device before it ships, and this agent allows it to detect and subsequently block and neutralize any known and unknown threats running on the device. Cybeats’ backend, which manages the security state of each device, is built on AWS serverless using components such as AWS S3, SQS, Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis and many more. 

The Challenge

The Cybeats team was facing two main challenges. As a security control, it is critical that any detected issues are addressed immediately, so a real-time alerting mechanism is an essential requirement. Then, when the team gets alerted to a problem, time-to-resolution is extremely important.

The second challenge they faced was around integration issues. As the platform works with numerous IoT devices, which are built on a variety of different operating systems, ensuring all parts in the flow are working properly is important. When the team discovers that something is not working correctly, they need the ability to easily correlate the different parts. The company faces a true distributed tracing challenge across different technologies and timezones.  

The Solution – Lumigo Serverless monitoring and troubleshooting platform

Once onboarded, the monitoring capabilities of the platform meant that the Cybeats team began receiving real-time alerts as soon as issues emerged anywhere across the system.

Furthermore, the alerts allowed them to drill down to the relevant function with a single click. It is now much simpler for the developers to view the stack trace and all other relevant debugging data, making the troubleshooting process quicker and more efficient.

When an external IoT device or any other integration returns an error, the team can quickly search for predefined tokens throughout the log utilizing Lumigo’s advanced log search capability. Understanding the root cause of any problem becomes much more straightforward when the relevant data is right on hand.
